SPCH Bargaining Update 07: Some Movement, But We Deserve Better

Our priorities are clear: Raises that do not leave Samaritan workers in Newport making less Samaritan workers in the Valley, improvements to healthcare that mean healthcare workers can actually access the same healthcare you provide your community, improvements to PTO including protecting the accrual cap.

WINS

✅ Technical unit employees will be eligible for consecutive day pay

✅ Employees who work weekends will receive the weekend differential even when earning premium or extra shift pay

Despite the agreements that are improvements to our members, management is still proposing the following takeaways:

❌ NO shift differential for callbacks whether on-call or not

NO Extra duty premium or open/extra shift pay unless you have worked or been placed on mandatory absence for ALL scheduled shifts that week

❌ NO more call-in minimum shift for those who in an emergency agree to work after the shift has started

NO to increasing PTO accruals while reducing PTO accrual cap to 560 hours.

NO to protecting the health insurance premium cap for full time employee only insurance

NO to a 2-year contract

Management’s proposed wages would leave many Newport workers still making less than Samaritan workers before they bargain their next contract.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Our next bargaining dates June 16, 23, and 24.

Purple up on Tuesdays
Every Tuesday until we get a contract! Let’s show management we are united for our patients, our community, and ourselves.
