ABM Schools Bargaining Update #2

PROGRESS MADE ON MANY ISSUES, BUT ABM’S WAGE OFFER IS UNACCEPTABLE!

Your ABM Bargaining Team is happy to report that we have made important improvements to many concerns raised by custodians such as:

  • Keeping our healthcare

  • Addressing and preventing unreasonable workloads

  • Improved rules for working in the heat

But ABM’s wage proposal is insultingly low, with an offer of only $0.45 raises for the first two years of the contract and $0.60 after that. And ABM says they will not give us Juneteenth and will not provide equal pay for Ridgefield unless we agree to these raises!

Wages are already too low! ABM custodians make less than ABM commercial janitors in Vancouver! At $20.75 after 2 years, ABM commercial janitors are being paid more than nearly all ABM school custodians. (Only day leads with 16+ years of seniority and district leads make more than this.)
