Update from October 3

Bargaining team members Jeffrey Sanders, Audrey Cardenas Loera, and SEIU Local 49 President Meg Niemi spent the last several days in California trying to reach a tentative agreement with out-of-touch Kaiser executives. Kaiser execs continued to bargain in bad faith with us and not address the top priorities we identified as frontline healthcare workers. So…

THE UNFAIR LABOR PRACTICE STRIKE IS ON!

We need to send a strong message to Kaiser Executives about how fired up we are over their disrespect—it's not enough to just not come to work. We need to all be on the strike line. It will be a fun, family-friendly event so bring your friends & family!

We recognize that if we are NOT being heard, we need to raise our voices by taking action at our worksites. We have the tools needed for Kaiser executives to end their short staffing crisis—they just need to listen to us!

We know that:

  • Raises of 3.5% / 3% / 3% / 3% won’t attract and retain the best staff.

  • Kaiser executives need to recognize us with longevity pay that respects our dedication.

  • Outsourcing is not the answer! Kaiser executives want to outsource hundreds of jobs in our region, impacting patient care and quality as well as taking away jobs from dedicated employees.

If you haven’t already, sign up for your strike shifts today! For those who have signed up, be sure to check your inbox for an email from Mobilize later this afternoon with suggestions for parking at the location you’ll be picketing. If you don’t see it in your main inbox, be sure to check spam/junk/etc.

NEXT STEPS ARE THE ONES WE TAKE ON THE PICKET LINE! SEE YOU THERE!
