Columbia Memorial Hospital Bargaining Update #2

MANAGEMENT FALLS SHORT AT THE TABLE

In our two bargaining sessions this week, it became very clear that we are far apart on making improvements for our families. Many of the items listed below are already provided for our co-workers in ONA.

CMH management proposed a divisive across-the-board wage increase of 4% for Support and 3% for Pro/Tech for 2024 with 2% for both groups for years 2025 and 2026 and a handful of wage adjustments for certain classifications. They stated that our proposal was too high, even though they agreed many of our members could work at a business in the community making more money than they do at CMH, but wouldn’t have the healthcare they do at CMH.

That’s why we are saying 4-3-2% won’t pay the rent!

They said NO to:

  • NO Retention bonuses $4,000 FT and $2,000 PT

  • NO Training Differential: Only willing to consider a preceptor differential limited to those who train students.

  • NO Increase Earned Leave (EL): Management would like to cancel your vacation if something comes up and you don’t have enough EL by the time your vacation date instead of allowing you to take without pay.

  • NO Increase in Shift Differential: Evening, nights, and weekends

  • NO National Certification Differential

  • NO Having a voice in the development and upkeep of our job descriptions

  • NO Improvements to Overtime and Unscheduled Work and more…

We have 2 signed tentative agreements:

  • Increase life insurance from $20,000 to $50,000 something that is already offered to other CMH employees.

  • Group health extended to domestic partners and maintaining coverage of our children until the end of their birthday month when they turn 26.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Our next bargaining session is Friday, May 3, it will be an open session; all member are welcome to attend. A big thank you to everyone who showed up to this week’s session; it’s a good reminder to management that our bargaining team is there representing everyone’s interests.

Continue to purple up on Wednesdays and any day we are in bargaining. Your Contract Action Team (CAT) will be in touch about upcoming worksite actions, including our next sticker action on Friday, May 3.
