Samaritan Health Systems: Bargaining Update 4

SIGN YOUR BARGAINING PRIORITIES PETITION!

Our priorities are clear: Better wages that keep up with the cost of living, better healthcare benefits, improved PTO benefits, and a safer workplace. GSRMC Service and Lebanon are standing united around these priorities and working toward strong, consistent standards for SHS workers across the Valley.

BETTER WAGES

GSRMC Service and Lebanon have both proposed updates to the Valley wage scale that address the current cost of living and keep SHS workers earning equal pay for equal work. No matter which Valley worksite you work at, we believe workers doing the same work should be compensated fairly and consistently.

BETTER HEALTHCARE & PTO BENEFITS

Our bargaining teams are working to improve healthcare and PTO benefits that support SHS workers and our families. Strong benefits are an important part of recruiting and retaining the experienced healthcare workers our patients and communities depend on.

A SAFER WORKPLACE

We are proposing stronger protections that support a safe workplace and give members a meaningful voice on the job. At Lebanon, we have already reached agreement on grievance and mediation language that gives members a clear process to hold management accountable to follow our contract.

MULTICARE-SAMARITAN UPDATE

Good news: the state approved the MultiCare-Samaritan deal, and they made some big protections legally enforceable:

  • MultiCare is now required to invest at least $300 million in Samaritan over the next five years - no matter how well Samaritan does financially.

  • The approval also includes protections to keep Samaritan’s profits invested here in Oregon communities, not sent out of state.

This approval was a big step in the process, but Samaritan has said they don’t expect the deal to be completely final until later this year.

We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
