Keep an eye out for your Executive Board Election voter guide and ballot. These should be arriving in the mail in January 2026. Be sure to mail yours in the postage- paid envelope soon so it can be counted by Thursday, February 19 at 3pm.

What do Board Members do?
Duties of the Board:
Deciding the local union's policies and setting goals in keeping with the Union's Constitution and Bylaws;
Establishing with staff a long-term strategy to meet those goals;
Reviewing plans to carry out the union's goals;
Leading and participating in the implementation of those plans;
Holding themselves and the President accountable for the development and implementation of the local's work plan;
Recommending significant changes in policy, operation and goals to the membership;
Adopting and watching over the finances of the local via regular financial committee meetings and oversight by the full Executive Board.
Here are some details about the duties of the Officer seats on the ballot. Depending on where you work, you may have seats in addition to these Officer seats to vote on. All members in good standing are able to vote for the candidate they feel will best represent our Union.
At the point of implementation, the Executive Board members become the leaders and part of the group of volunteers that are needed to make our Union strong and successful. While the Executive Board does not, as a group, lead the implementation process, it is essential that they lead by example and be present for the many activities required to help us win.
President
The President of the local leads the Executive Board and oversees the establishment of policy, goals and long-term strategy. After adoption, the President is responsible for directing the implementation of those decisions. The President is the only full-time and paid position on the Executive Board and oversees the staff of the Union. The President is also responsible for implementing the Board vision, goals and decisions. The President has direct responsibility along with the Secretary Treasurer and the Board for fiscal and legal compliance of the Union. All other Executive Board seats are held by rank-and-file members of our union.
Sergeant-at-Arms
Keeps meetings fair, safe, and orderly. Makes sure only members in good standing enter meetings and that discussions remain respectful.
SEIU Convention: All Executive Board Members are automatic delegates to the SEIU Convention if there are enough delegate seats, and if not, the Officers (union-wide positions) shall be delegates, with additional delegate seats filled by Executive Board Member in the order proscribed by SEIU’s bylaws.
Duties of All Executive Board Members: Attend Board meetings and participate in accomplishing the goals the Board adopts. Represents members at the leadership level and advances important issues to its membership.

En el momento de la implementación, los miembros de la Mesa Directiva se convierten en líderes y en parte del grupo de voluntarios necesarios para que nuestra Unión sea fuerte y exitosa. Si bien la Mesa Directiva, como órgano colectivo, no dirige el proceso de implementación, es fundamental que sus integrantes den el ejemplo y estén presentes en las numerosas actividades necesarias para ayudarnos a ganar.
Presidente
El/la Presidente/a del Local dirige la Mesa Directiva y supervisa el establecimiento de políticas, objetivos y la estrategia a largo plazo. Una vez adoptadas, el/la Presidente/a es responsable de dirigir la implementación de dichas decisiones. El/la Presidente/a es el único cargo de tiempo completo y remunerado en la Mesa Directiva y supervisa al personal de la Uníon. El/la Presidente/a también es responsable de implementar la visión, las metas y las decisiones de la Mesa Directiva. El/la Presidente/a tiene responsabilidad directa, junto con el Secretario Tesorero y la Mesa Directiva, sobre el cumplimiento fiscal y legal de la Unión. Todos los demás cargos de la Mesa Directiva son ocupados por miembros de base de nuestra Unión.
Sargento de Armas
Mantiene las reuniones justas, seguras y ordenadas. Se asegura de que solo miembros que estén al corriente entren a las reuniones y que las discusiones se mantengan respetuosas.
Convención de SEIU: Todos los miembros de la Mesa Directiva son delegados automáticos a la Convención de SEIU si hay suficientes puestos de delegados. Si no los hay, los Oficiales (cargos a nivel de toda la Uníon) serán delegados, y los puestos adicionales de delegados se cubrirán con miembros de la Mesa Directiva en el orden establecido por los estatutos de SEIU.
Funciones de todos los miembros de la Mesa Directiva: Asistir a las reuniones de la Mesa Directiva y participar en el cumplimiento de los objetivos que adoptan. Representar a los miembros a nivel de liderazgo y promover los temas importantes ante la membresía.
