PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Members Overwhelmingly Ratify New 3-Year Contract
We Did It!
The votes are in, and SEIU 49 members at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart overwhelmingly voted to ratify a new three-year contract!
Here are the highlights:
WAGE INCREASES
Across-the-board raises of 4% each year. Additional selective salary increases for members below market wages, including MA Lead 5%, Inventory Control Coordinator Lead 2%, Trauma Registrar 7%, Pathology Assistant 20%, EVS Lead 6.2%, and all Grade 24 positions 1%. Grade 24 positions include FSA Lead, Diet Rep, EVS II, Food and Nutrition Courier, Food Service Cashier, and Supply Chain Specialist.
Converting one ghost step to a 1% step.
DIFFERENTIALS
Significant increases to differentials:
Evening shift $2.50, a $1 increase
Noc shift $3.75, a $1.25 increase
Call $4, a 25¢ increase
Relief Lead $2, a $1 increase
Preceptor $1.75, a 75¢ increase
Weekend 1.25, a 25¢ increase
We accepted a change in shift differential pay. Shift differential will now be paid according to the shift the majority of your hours are worked in for the whole shift. Some employees will see an increase in shift differential pay under the new system; other employees will see reduced shift differentials. For example, 12-hour day shift employees will not get evening shift differential. For employees who see a reduction in shift differential pay, we won a payment this year and next as follows:
$500 for caregivers with an annual impact of $1000 or less
$750 for caregivers with an annual impact of $1000–$1400
$1000 for caregivers with an annual impact of $1400 or more.
LAYOFF PROTECTIONS
Enhanced layoff protections to provide more notice, clearer bidding rights, involvement of the staffing committee, more communication with your union, and support from the Education Fund for workers facing layoffs.
PROTECTION OF MARRIAGE RIGHTS AND IMMIGRANT WORKERS
PeaceHealth will honor marriage equality and continue to recognize marriages even if courts strip away marriage rights. We agreed to stronger protections for immigrant workers, including notification to the union of ICE activity and the right to union representation in immigration-related meetings.
IMPROVED UNION ORIENTATION AND MEETING LANGUAGE
To allow for more regular union meetings and ensure all employees get a union orientation.
CHANGED PER DIEM REQUIREMENTS
We agreed to change per diem requirements to create more predictable staffing. Per diem employees will now be required to provide availability for two shifts per monthly schedule period and to work one shift per monthly schedule period.
CONTINUED ACCESS TO EDUCATION BENEFITS THROUGH THE ED FUND
We maintained access to education and training benefits through the Ed Fund. The Ed Fund recently reached an agreement with Lane Community College to open up more local educational opportunities.
HEALTH INSURANCE
We maintained the existing health insurance language. Your team pushed hard to lower costs to employees but was ultimately unsuccessful in reducing health insurance costs.
