Legacy Mt Hood Bargaining Update #12

We’re STANDING STRONG

We’ve been at the bargaining table for ten months, and we have only one session left. While we’ve reached tentative agreements on critical protections — like layoff language, grievance procedures, discipline and discharge, employee classifications, hours and overtime rules, and seniority/job bidding — we are still miles apart on wages.

FOR EXAMPLE:

  • Employer proposal: 3% raise in 2025, followed by 2.75% in 2026 and 2027

  • Our proposal: Minimum 10% raise in 2025, with a one-year contract to align with other SEIU Legacy members

We can’t settle for less while executives continue to protect their paychecks. We need to be ready to stand together — for real wage increases and a contract that reflects our value.

Failed Merger + Failing Finances = Rising Executive Pay?

FAILED MERGER:

Legacy’s merger with OHSU fell apart earlier this year. But that doesn’t mean they’ve stopped trying. In fact, executives warned that if the deal failed, they would cut services, sell assets, and “resume the work to find strategic partners.”[1] That work is ongoing. Legacy is still exploring mergers and sales — and without a union, we’re the most vulnerable to layoffs, reduced hours, and unsafe workloads.

FAILING FINANCES:

Legacy pursued a merger because of “significant financial strain.”[2] The system lost over $70 million last year. Mt. Hood Medical Center hasn’t turned a profit since the pandemic.

And yet…

  • Executives continue to receive pay increases

  • Leadership was sent on a weeklong trip to Japan

  • Former CEO Kathryn Correia’s base pay increased by over 50% from $1 million to $2 million[3] in five years—if top Executives are getting 10% a year, so should we!

📣 It’s Time to Be Recognized

More than 2,400 Nurses, Techs, and Physicians at Legacy are unionized and actively bargaining. We deserve the same protections. We must not be the only group left out when cuts come.

🚨 Together, we decide our future. Don’t sit this out. 🚨
