Legacy Mt Hood Bargaining Update #10

Our bargaining team made measurable progress at the table. We reached tentative agreements on several important non-economic articles, including:

  • Definitions of work hours

  • Overtime provisions

  • Scheduling and days off

  • Seniority and the probationary period

  • Procedures for posting and awarding vacant job bids

With these new Tentative Agreements, employees would not have to be placed on a probationary period every time they changes departments or job classifications.  Management also showed significant movement on subcontracting and layoff language—an important victory, especially for our colleagues in Nutrition Services and Environmental Services, who are often the most vulnerable during periods of cost-cutting and restructuring.

We are close to resolving the remaining non-economic issues, including:

  • Discipline and grievance procedures

  • Computer access

  • Language on diversity and respect

We hope to finalize these topics in our next sessions.

With Legacy publicly announcing improvements to its financial outlook, we are preparing to shift to economic issues, including:

  • Wages and shift differentials

  • Longevity pay

  • Healthcare benefits

  • The Education Fund

It’s important to highlight that workers at Legacy Emanuel and Legacy Good Samaritan already receive strong education benefits, annual wage increases with meaningful step raises, and longevity pay. Mt. Hood workers deserve equal treatment!

We will continue bargaining every other Wednesday. If you have questions, suggestions, or concerns, please connect with a bargaining team member.
