TriMet: Do the Right Thing!

TriMet released a “Request for Proposals” on Friday, May 8, for a contractor to run the Safety Response Team and Community Safety Officers (and the rest of the program). We work on this contract, and we have been fighting to make it better. We’re disappointed that PPI still hasn’t met with us or agreed to a fair process to recognize our union. By May 18, we must submit any recommended changes to how TriMet decides who will win the work. On 5/29, any interested companies will provide their proposals to TriMet. TriMet will decide who will take over the contract in August.

We are signing on to two sets of demands:

First, see below to sign our recommendations to TriMet to update their Request for Proposals. This will protect our wages, benefits, and our jobs – it will also set us up to win more through TriMet choosing a responsible union contractor.

Second, add your name to a letter to PPI Owner William Guidice, calling on him to change course. Sit down with us, then make your proposals as a company that respects our right to a union. It sets a deadline for May 22.
