Welcome to SEIU Local 49, from President Meg Niemi
On behalf of our entire membership, I would like to welcome you to the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 49. As a member of SEIU 49, you are part of a vibrant and democratic organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of working families. We are over 15,000 healthcare workers, janitors, and security officers in Oregon and Southwest Washington who are coming together to win livable wages, affordable healthcare benefits, and job security, and to create a more just society.
We are stronger together, and I encourage you to be an active member of our union. You will have the opportunity to help enforce your contract in your worksite, organize new members into our union, and advocate at our State Capitols to pass laws that help working families.

We work hard to campaign for candidates and pass laws that improve the lives of working families in our region and around the country. ATTENTION BAGS INC. EMPLOYEES
As you know, Alaska Airlines wheelchair services will be moving from Bags to G2 effective November 17, 2025. Because of your union contract, your seniority and rate of pay are protected in this transition!
Bags Alaska employees will need to complete the following steps by October 28, 2025:
Complete your drug screen at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Portland Airport (9189 NE Cascades Parkway, Portland, OR, 97220). This will be a mouth swab drug screen.
DRUG SCREEN SCHEDULE
Tuesday, 10/21: 9AM – 5PM
Wednesday, 10/22: 11AM – 7PM
Thursday, 10/23: 8AM – 4PM
Monday, 10/27: Time & Location TBD
Tuesday, 10/28: Time & Location TBD
Ensure you have completed all necessary steps for your badge and your custom seals. There is a flyer at G2’s podium with this information.
