Tentative Agreement Reached!
Your elected Bargaining Team is recommending a YES! vote on a 3-year contract for Inter-Con Officers. Your team was able to achieve the following in this Agreement.
Wage Increases
Over the last 12 months your elected bargaining team secured wage increases of 11%, with wage increases in October of 2023 and April of 2024. In addition to that, Officers will see an additional 4.5 % Increase on October 1st for a total of 15.50% in one year.
We have also secured 4.5% wage increases for 2025 and 2026.
Health & Welfare
The new contract includes increases of 4% each year of the contract and protects the current healthcare plan.
In addition, we were able to increase the amount of Health and Welfare monies that are available for those covering someone other then themselves from $1,000 to $1,150, an increase of $150 per month that will help lower the out-of-pocket costs for those covering family. This amount will increase by no less then 4% each year.
Effective October of this year Officers will also have the option of enrolling in a Roth IRA for any remaining HWB funds.
Vacation
We have won improvements in vacation time.
Officers will now move up to 120 hours per year after 4 years, instead of 5...
Officers will now move up to 160 hours at 11 years of service, instead of 12...
...helping secure more vacation time for Officers a year earlier.
Protected Full Time Work for Officers
We secured the number of full time positions at each of our worksites, to help ensure that Officers are given full time work and to protect against a part time work force.
Significant Improvements in Training that include:
The Training Cadre will have input into training requirements
Inter-Con will continue to use bargaining unit Officers for providing training and if they choose to move to an outside trainer they need to provide notice and meet and confer with the Union first
The ability to meet with the client when there are changes to the SOW and Licensing Requirements that may impact onboarding and recertification
Prior to new equipment being issued that would warrant updated training, a training curriculum specific to the new equipment or operational change will be reviewed by the Contract Manager AND the Training Cadre
If the Employer is assessing the purchasing of new equipment for use in the field, either as standard issue or for a specialized reason the Employer will gather input from the Training Cadre prior to moving forward with purchasing
A two-week notice for Officers if they are required to attend a training for re certification
Other Contract Changes Include:
Officers must be provided a copy of any document related to discipline before it is placed in their file
Pay errors that are identified, that are not the fault of the Employee, involving 8 or more hours of pay must be paid within five business days
Tattoos are allowed on hands and neck unless the client raises a specific objection for a specific Officer, and then they must be covered
Inter-Con must now make a reasonable effort to solicit input from Officers prior to uniform purchases
Bereavement: Officers now have 4 paid days of Bereavement, up from 1, and in Oregon can take up to two weeks of leave per family member up to a maximum of four weeks per year
The probation period for Officers has moved from six months to one year
