PPI Safety Response Team and Customer Safety Officers Contract Transition

Check here for updates on the transition

July 2, 2026 Update

TriMet announced on 7/2/26 that they were planning to award their contract for the Safety Response Team (SRT) and Customer Safety Officer (CSO) programs to Allied Universal Security (AUS). Customer Safety Officers and Safety Response Teams have been organizing their union with SEIU Local 49; SEIU already represents nearly 900 officers with Allied Universal. PPI's union organizing committee - members of the SRT and CSOs - are fighting to make sure everyone is hired on and kept whole in this transition.

Come back here for updates as AUS begins to hire for the new contract.

July 9, 2026 Update

Allied Universal shared with SRTs on 7/9/26 that applications will be due on Monday 7/20/2026. You can apply HERE — make sure to confirm that the "requisition ID" at the bottom of the screen is 2026-1630413 (you should be sent automatically to the correct application). After you apply and AUS reviews the application, you should be given a "conditional offer of employment." If you accept that offer, then AUS will complete their normal employment screening - background check, drug screening, and orientation trainings. Work is scheduled to begin with AUS on 8/1/2026.

What happens if you don't apply by Monday, 7/20?

AUS will hire for the SRT and CSO programs from the existing workers, but if you want to be hired, you must apply and meet their employment criteria. If you do not apply, your work with PPI will end on 7/31/2026 (unless PPI offers you a job somewhere else). Former PPI employees who do not start work for AUS will be considered "laid off," and SEIU’s understanding is that a lay off would qualify you for unemployment.
