Recent News from Local 49 members who work at Samaritan Health Services Hospitals

• Union Members Take Action
  Housekeeping workers at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital were significantly affected by a department restructure.  Union members took action, demanding that management redo the bidding for schedules.  EVS workers signed petitions and wore stickers in support of their co-workers.   Management heard our concerns and agreed to do the bidding over with union members present.  Now, union members will be able to ask questions and meet with their peers prior to selecting their new schedule.
  
  “We take pride in our work.  We want to be assigned to a specific location in the hospital, so we can develop relationships with staff and better provide customer service.”  said Walter Hoppe, Floor Specialist and EVS worker.  “It allows us to better support patient care when we have a consistent work assignment.”
