1000 Attend Candlelight Vigil for Justice
Community Calls on Providence Health & Services to Agree to Fair Union Elections for Providence Employees
We got their attentionOver 1,000 supporters attended a peaceful vigil March 21. Providence employees, community supporters, elected officials, and faith leaders called on Providence Health & Services to agree to free and fair elections for employees, who are trying to organize with SEIU Local 49. Together, we sent a strong message that our community supports fairness and the right of caregivers to have an effective voice on the job.
Leaders demand fairnessProvidence released “behavioral expectations” that pay lip service to fair elections but does nothing to guarantee a fair process. Community leaders like Oregon Speaker of the House Jeff Merkley and State Representative Tina Kotek recently met with Providence management and made it clear we need to negotiate a truly fair process.
Next StepsNow decision makers need to hear from you! We need to send the message that our community will accept nothing less than guaranteed free and fair elections.
