Kaiser Permanente is the largest nonprofit health plan in the United States, serving 8.7 million members in 9 states and the District of Columbia. Kaiser is an integrated health delivery system, which means that it provides and coordinates the entire scope of care for its members, including:

    * preventive care
    * well-baby and prenatal care
    * immunizations
    * emergency care
    * screening diagnostics
    * hospital and medical services
    * pharmacy services

Kaiser Permanente Northwest provides prepaid health care (including Medicaid and Medicare) to people living in the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area, as well as the communities of Longview and Kelso, Washington, and Salem, Oregon. Enrollment in the region's medical program now stands at more than 485,000.

Kaiser Permanente Northwest operates one acute-care hospital (Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas, Oregon), and maintains arrangements with several community hospitals. In addition, Kaiser operates 26 outpatient medical offices and 15 dental offices.
