New Kaiser Contract Specialists for 2008

Contract Specialists are Kaiser stewards who apply to serve in a one year full-time position with the union. Contract Specialists help strengthen our union, assist other stewards in learning new skills, and advance the Kaiser Partnership.

Julie Markiewicz, who served as a 2007 Contract Specialist, will continue part-time as a Dental Contract Specialist through the end of 2008.

Susan Kolibaba is from Montgomery Park Expanded Care, where she has served as Chief Steward. She is a 21-year Kaiser employee. Her job group joined SEIU in 2005, and Susan has helped many other workers join our union since then. She was the 2006 Member Organizer of the year for health care and has a great range of skills and experience.

Nicole Lorber Burns is from Salmon Creek, and has been an MA at KP for 8 years. She has been an active Chief Steward and Labor Partner and has a lot of experience recruiting and developing other stewards in the North Service Area. She has defended our members in many corrective actions and won a number of grievances.

Heather Cullen has been an MIS at the Regional Call Center since 2001. You might have met her at one of your new employee orientations because she has been a new hire ambassador for a couple years. Heather was our Political Organizer of the year in 2006 for her work in building the political strength of our union. She has actually been working for our union since August and took over responsibility for the Sunnyside campus in December.
