Members who work for Kaiser Permanente* are elegible for benefits from
two different Education funds: one maintained by Kaiser and SEIU Local
49 [at left, below], and one maintained by Kaiser and SEIU UHW [United
Health Care Workers West — the SEIU California Health Care Workers

SEIU Local 49 members at Kaiser with six months of continuous service (except those coded as 'On Call' or 'Temporary' status) are eligible for Education Fund benefits, which include:
Continuing Education, Professional Development, and Career Development: • Training and Upgrading Skills • Apprenticeship Programs • Certification Upgrade Training (not testing) • Personal/Professional Growth • Seminars/Workshops • Educational Opportunities

Exclusions: • Wages (reimbursement for time loss) • Child care • Food, travel, and lodging expenses • Parking • Retraining for injured workers covered by Workers' Comp or other insurance • Retraining as part of RIF • Licensing fees, professional dues, subscriptions, registration testing fees. • Certification (except job-related CEU classes with proof of attendance) • Repayment of Student Loans | Goals of fund:
1. To provide educational and training opportunities for health care workers. 2. To enhance career advancement and employment security for health care workers. 3. To contribute to an increasingly excellent standard of quality care.

The Education trust also offers a stipend program. The fund will pay up to 8 hours of your weekly wages while you are in a two-year program such as RN, Rad. Tech, Medical Coding, Respiratory Therapy, etc, to free up time for you to attend classes and study. To apply for this stipend, visit our website: www.seiu-uhweduc.org.
