Medicare Matters to someone you know.

Medicare

Medicare is the federal government program that provides health care coverage to people who are 65 or older, or who have a disability, regardless of income. Over 13 million people in Oregon and Washington use Medicare for some form of health coverage. Oregon and Washington receive over $6 million from the federal government for Medicare.
Medicare is divided into three parts:

Medicare Part A covers inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, home health care, and hospice care.
The Medicare Trust Fund for Part A is projected to be exhausted in 2018 unless political leaders act.

Medicare Part B covers almost all reasonable and necessary medical services, including doctors’ services, lab and x-ray services, durable medical equipment (wheelchairs, hospital beds), ambulance services, outpatient hospital care, home health care, blood, and medical supplies.

Medicare Part D
subsidizes prescription drug coverage.

37% of all Medicare payments go to hospitals.
Medicare matters because our patients depend on it, and our health care facilities need it.

The SEIU Political Action Fund helps us fight for it. Every year, our federal government makes changes to payment rules, eligibility, and covered services. The funding for our jobs and the dignity of our patients is being decided in congress. SEIU PAF gives us a seat at the table. Without the support of workers like you, working families aren’t included in the Medicare formula.

Together, we can preserve Medicare funding. Join the SEIU Political Action Fund to make your voice heard in support of Medicare.
