Building a Stronger Union Together

You can help build our union and protect our benefits by reaching out to non-union health care workers. Union hospital workers in the Portland area have many benefits [free family health insurance, retiree medical coverage, and others] that non-union hospital workers don’t have.

As long as non-union hospitals don’t offer these benefits to employees, we will have to fight to keep our benefits each time we go to the bargaining table. Organizing non-union workers into our union will help bring their benefits up to match ours. Raising standards for non-union hospital workers helps us hold on to the benefits we have.

Volunteering as a member organizer is a great opportunity to learn new skills for building support for the union, in your worksite and beyond! Represent Local 49 to future members through phone banks, house visits, and worksite meetings.
