We Make Politics Work!

Member Political Organizers with Erik Sten

Every day, politicians make decisions that affect our jobs, our families, and our lives.

SEIU Local 49 MPOs are building a grassroots, member-based, issues-driven political program that holds politicians accountable at every level of government and creates power for working people.

SEIU Member Political Organizers (MPOs) carry the vision of a better society into our worksites and communities and onto the campaign trail.

During elections, MPOs focus on key local, state, and national political races and make the winning difference in tight races by phone banking, fundraising, door-knocking and leafleting on behalf of candidates who fight for working families. SEIU Local 49 MPOs helped raise the minimum wage in Oregon and elect pro-affordable health care candidates in Oregon and southwest Washington. MPOs register co-workers to vote, lobby elected officials, make voluntary contributions to our political fund (COPE), secure the support of politicians for our contract bargaining campaigns and volunteer on election campaigns.
