SEIU Local 49 represents more than 7000 LPNs, nursing assistants, phlebotomists, laboratory assistants, and other hospital employees in Oregon and Southwest Washington, and has negotiated some of the highest wages and benefits for health care workers in the region. Local 49 members also work as janitors cleaning commercial office space, government buildings, and public schools.
As a democratically-run organization, Local 49 members at each worksite elect our own stewards and vote on our contracts. All Local 49 members vote for union officers, our constitution and by-laws, and our dues structure.
